Dwayne and Alberta Ennest, Calgary’s new generation Mom and Pop, have succeeded in redefining diner food for the new millennium, serving it up in the prettiest diner in the city. Diner Deluxe on Edmonton Trail is a blend of ‘50s pastels and space-age tones. Customers on vinyl chairs are seated around Arborite kitchen tables under lamps that look like something out of the Jetsons.

Chiles When it's Chilly

I’m almost ashamed at how close Mike came to convincing me we should order Inglewood Pizza tonight - he knew I was an easy target, my defenses having been knocked down by the deep snow and PJs I had been in most of the afternoon. I stopped him as he picked up the phone, in fact. I’m so glad I did - I had another recipe to test using my mishmash of peppers. Right now I can smell the tumble of oil-slicked peppers, tomatoes, chilies and garlic roasting in the oven.

Extreme Makeover: Turkey Edition

Ah, the morning after the year before. With a stash of Christmas chocolate still taking up most of one kitchen cupboard and having just finished the last of the stuffing (crispy bits are the best part of the entire turkey dinner) for lunch, I find myself suffering from a food hangover.
